SORRENTO
The Sorrentine Peninsula is the ultimate Summer vacation place for all. Beaches are located all along the coast, each with the unique volcanic sands or stones, which are a particular characteristic of local beaches.
Once you visit Sorrento, you'll always want to come back. There is a great variety of restaurants, pedestrian shopping streets, cafes and an appealing medieval charm throughout the old town.
The best way to visit the town of Sorrento is to stroll amongst the main shopping streets and characteristic historical center in the alleyways, with typical shops that let you try some of the local products such as 'limoncello' liquor, and later sit down to rest on a bench that overlooks the overwhelming Gulf Of Naples, which includes the entire coast of Sorrento. The main square is ''Piazza Tasso'', the heart of it all, then a walk down the main street which is called '' Corso Italia '' where all the stores are located. Then, head into one of the many alleyway entrances along the main road, which will take you to the historical center of town. From there you can visit the museums and churches situated on almost every corner
There are some particular attractions that should not be missed on a trip to Sorrento. One is the Art Nouveau Grand Hotel Victoria, which features gardens amongst Roman remains. Also stroll along the medieval Via Pieta in the old town center and check out the beautiful old palaces - in particular the 15th century Correale Palace and the 13th century Venerio Palace, which now is a part of the Baroque Santa Maria della Pieta.
During these promenades, stop and grab an excellent cup of espresso coffee in any of the local bars and maybe taste one of the local pastries such as the 'delizia di limone'.
